AGM was successful in securing planning permission for the erection of an indoor riding arena, measuring 70m x 30m in size, with associated works and landscaping for private use.
The arena is of a steel-frame construction, finished in horizontal wooden cladding and is part of the wider equestrian stud.
As part of the application, AGM encountered different, sensitive landscaping issues owing to the fact that the site is not only located within the Green Belt designation, but it is also classified as a being within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The size of the arena made negotiations with the council more difficult, but Officers ultimately agreed that the indoor arena was a facility for ‘outdoor sport and recreation’.
Furthermore, a key aspect of the agreement was implementing a detailed landscape planting scheme for mitigation purposes which has since been implemented.
