AGM secured Full Planning Listed and Building Consent for the erection of a retractable awning to the Colosseo Restaurant, which brings practical value by enhancing the usability of the outdoor seating area, providing essential protection from the elements and deterring seagulls, thereby improving the dining experience.
From a planning perspective, securing approval posed challenges due to the site’s location within the Bath Conservation Area and its Grade II listing. AGM provided significant input into the design of the awning to ensure that the proposal would fit seamlessly within Milsom Street’s historic character. To do this, we put forward a modest, high-quality canvas in traditional colours, and referred to evidence that awnings were once a common feature in the area. This added invaluable context which helped demonstrate that the addition would not detract from the building’s heritage value.
Alongside this, AGM were also successful in achieving Advertisement Consent for the display of 1 no. on-illuminated fascia sign and repainting of the timber shopfront.
