The proposed development sought the erection of a two storey extension to the gable end of the existing building in order to acquire more room to care for an elderly relative and to support multi-generational living.
The design provided space for the family to extend their living quarters into the extension and allow the remaining terrace to be adapted to living quarters for an elderly relative. By extending the terrace, multi-generational living is allowed within the home. The design incorporates design features throughout the house for easy access to all rooms which allows for ease of care to the elderly relative. A new family lounge, kitchen and dining area has been designed in to the extension, with a bedroom continuing in the space upstairs.
The application was originally recommended for Refusal by the Planning Officer. However, after early engagement with key stakeholders on behalf of the Client (with both the local Parish Council and Ward Member), the benefits of the scheme were noted and thus the application was called into Planning Committee for their consideration.
Successful lobbying of the Committee Members, and a targeted presentation at Committee ensured that planning permission was subsequently granted.
A great result for the client and demonstration of our commitment.
