Planning Appeals
Unfortunately, not all planning applications receive approval from the Local Planning Authority (LPA). When this occurs, you generally have the option to appeal the decision with the Planning Inspectorate, which offers an independent assessment of your proposal based on its merits.
You may appeal a planning decision if your application was refused for reasons that contradict the LPA’s development plan or planning policy, if you were granted permission with conditions you find unacceptable, or if the LPA failed to make a decision within eight weeks of acknowledging your application.
Appeals can be made for applications that you submitted personally or on behalf of someone else. Additionally, you can apply for an ‘award of costs’ if you believe the LPA’s unreasonable behaviour has caused you financial loss. However, do be aware that the LPA can also seek costs from you.
At Arena Global Management, we have a strong track record of successfully overturning planning refusals. Our services include crafting a tailored appeal strategy, coordinating with external consultants (when necessary), and preparing comprehensive ‘Appeal Statements’ and ‘Statements of Common Ground.’
